Acis partnership aims to get tenants healthy

Two Lincolnshire companies have joined forces to help get the community fit and healthy.
Gainsborough based housing association Acis Group has teamed up with the town's branch of DW Sports Fitness Club to offer their tenants reduced membership rates and encourage more people to make healthy lifestyle choices.
Neal Pearce, Organisational Development Manager for Acis, said:
“Forming this partnership with DW Sports is a positive move for Acis and our tenants. Many people who live in our homes do not enjoy the economic, employment, education or health benefits and opportunities than those living in the wider community enjoy. We believe this gap in opportunity is not fair and we are actively seeking to redress this imbalance through the development of healthy, wealthy and wise initiatives in our communities. Offering our residents the opportunity to join DW Sports at our corporate rate is one such initiative. The preferential rates will potentially reduce the financial barrier that may be preventing some of our residents from leading a healthier lifestyle and enjoying the physical and mental health benefits that regular exercise can bring."
The DW Sports Fitness Club, based in Marshall’s Yard shopping complex in Gainsborough, boasts state-of-the-art gym equipment, a swimming pool with jacuzzi area and steam room, and a varied range of group fitness classes.
Stewart Gunthorpe, Assistant General Manager at DW Sports, added:
“We are delighted to have teamed up with Acis to provide their tenants with the offers and discounts that a corporate membership brings. Acis tenants are now able to benefit from reduced membership fees starting from as little as £25.50 per month. This includes use of the gym, swimming pool and fitness classes. We’re also offering a free personal training session worth £30. Additionally, there is no joining fee which means another saving of £35.”
Acis have previously linked up with DW Sports to offer their employees a similar benefits package and have negotiated the expansion of this to their tenants as a way of making the facilities more accessible to more people.
