After their recent success at the fabulous multi-cultural community event at Hounslow Heath, youngsters from RHP’s Urban Academy wowed audiences with their end of year Christmas spectacular last night.

A packed audience feasted their eyes on the huge range of talent of young people from across Richmond and Hanworth, including great dancing accompanied by African drumming, and singing from talented Megan Price, who is auditioning for the next round of Britain’s Got Talent!

The evening included Urban Academy’s very own version of the Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol, as well as the street dancing style that saw them reach fourth place in the nationwide Dance ChallengeTM earlier this year.

Recently praised by local police in Hanworth and Hampton for helping to reduce minor anti-social behaviour, the award-winning Urban Academy programme will be using funds raised from this event to continue its great work.

Bertie Morse, Project Manager, says: “This was our biggest show yet, and we are all very proud of what our young people have achieved this year. I am also very proud that some of our previous participants have now become really positive role models on their estates in Richmond and Hounslow.”

As well as running regular youth clubs and sports programmes and activities such as DJing, Urban Academy also has a mentoring programme to help young people on RHP estates who may be experiencing bullying or face a difficult home situation that is affecting their school performance.
