Norwich Home Improvement Agency celebrates 10 years

Over 70 staff and partners of Orbit East’s Home Improvement Agency (HIA) ‘Care and Repair’ gathered at Norwich City Council’s offices yesterday to mark the agency’s 10 year anniversary.

The lunchtime event, attended by representatives from Norwich City Council and Norfolk County Council, the Royal British Legion, Age UK, NHS Norfolk and other partner organisations, celebrated the 10 year success of the HIA’s Care and Repair service. 

HIA Care and Repair launched in 1991 to help vulnerable people to maintain their independence at home.   Since their launch they have helped over 6,400 people by carrying out repairs and adaptations to their homes, enabling homeowners and private tenants to remain in greater comfort and security and enjoy an enhanced quality of life.

 Mike Scarlett, Head of the Home Improvement Agency, commented  “Orbit East Care & Repair has made a real difference to the lives of thousands of older, vulnerable and disabled people living within the city ofNorwich. Without the intervention of the Care & Repair team, a substantial number of vulnerable people would not have been able to continue living independently within their own homes. Care & Repair look forward to working with Norwich City Council in further developing the very successful partnership, which enables older people to remain living, safely and independently in their own homes.”
