Riverside’s Chief Executive Deborah Shackleton got a head start on one of her last tasks before retiring in December - a charity hair shave.

Deborah performed the close shave on plucky Riverside employee, Nikki Haslem, who was transformed from Rapunzel to GI Jane to raise cash for Help for Heroes – a charity close to her heart.

The 40 year old quality services assistant, who is based at Riverside’s Birkenhead office, has so far raised almost £1,000 for the nation’s heroes.

Nikki said:  “My son joined the RAF Regiment in March this year and I promised him I would have my head shaved to raise cash for Help for Heroes if he passed his training.  And he’s held me to my word.”

Nikki is also donating her 16 inch pony tail to Little Princess’s Trust, which makes wigs for child cancer victims who have lost their hair.

A shorn Nikki added:  “It’s going to take some getting used to, but it will grow back.  It’s the least I can do to help our heroes overseas.”
