Youth Masterclass at Community Gateway Association
Community Gateway Association held a Young Person’s Masterclass called ‘Use your Voice – Make a Difference’
CGA working with Young Enterprise delivered the event that was attended by 37 young people from acrossPreston; a diverse group with ages ranging from 11 to 17.
The aim of the day was to find out what they would do in their communities to make them better and find out if junior membership at CGA was viable and would be of interest to younger people across the city.
On the day They worked on projects in groups, developed their ideas, put together a business plan, made a model of their product and put together a jingle or advert culminating in a presentation to a panel of judges at the end of the day.
There were 6 groups and the projects developed were;
- Addressing dog fouling issues
- Community Sports Hub
- Road safety – reducing speed limits to 20
- Community Centre
- Training Facility
Jinty Williams Community Development Officer at CGA said: “It was brilliant to see young people from across Preston coming together at this event. They are the future of our neighbourhoods and communities.Their ideas will form part of our plans to make sure their voice is heard as an important part of the community.”
