Parkway Green celebrated its fifth birthday by reflecting on the transformation of Wythenshawe and the part they’ve played at a celebratory event at the Town Hall in Manchester.
Since the Trust was set-up on Tuesday 31st October 2006 over £90 million has been spent on improving 6,000 properties as part of a 5 year investment programme, which was completed 20months ahead of schedule.
Chief Executive of Parkway Green Nigel Wilson said, “We’re very proud to have been able to make such a difference to people’s lives and to Wythenshawe. We couldn’t have done this without the support and involvement of local people and partner agencies. ”
Since 2006 Parkway Green has fitted:
19,233 windows
8,484 doors
53,940 kitchen units
5,342 bathrooms.
They have also upgraded a significant number of new boilers and electrical installations, fitted new canopies and balcony enclosures, completed re-roofing works, water main renewals and insulation works.
They have also recently finished a £9 million Environmental Investment programme which has provided 2,168 front boundary treatments and 1,177 car parking spaces to their homes.
They helped mark the occasion by launching ‘Real Dividends’ at the event, a commemorate booklet which details the journey taken over the last 5 years while also looking forward to the future.
Chair of the PGHT board, Councillor Tony Burns, added: “We are doing everything we can to improve the lives of everyone in Wythenshawe by creating safer communities and neighbourhoods of choice by working with our customers – young and old. But we can always improve and we are now looking forward to the next five years and a brighter future for Wythenshawe”
