Progress supports Homeless International in transforming slums in Africa and Asia

Progress Housing Group has recently made a donation toUKcharity Homeless International, which could be used to fund ten family homes inZambia, provide clean drinking water for up to 1,000 families inTanzaniaor set up small schools inPakistan.

With one billion people in the world live in slums; Homeless International supports community-led initiatives in 12 countries, tackling issues including poor housing, water and sanitation in slums. 

Progress Housing Group donated funds to help aid those communities who are living in slums, to secure land, build homes and provide safe access to clean drinking water.

Homeless Internationals Chief Executive, Larry English and Fundraising Officer Pauline Lewis recently presented a short talk to Progress Housing Group staff demonstrating the work the Charity do, and how the money donated by the organisation will help to improve living conditions for people living in slums. 

Jacqui De-Rose, Chief Executive for Progress Housing Group said:” By donating this money to Homeless International we hope to help poor and disadvantaged communities in countries likeZambia,Pakistan andTanzania build safe and secure homes and stable neighbourhoods.”

Chief Executive for Homeless International, Larry English said:  “We are extremely grateful for Progress Housing Group’s generous donation.  Homeless International was founded by theUK housing sector over 20 years ago and it is through the continued support of organisations like Progress that we are able to help some of the world’s poorest urban communities.  When you consider that it costs as little as £1,500 to help a family inTanzania build their own starter home, you see just how far a donation like this can go.”

Homeless International was founded by housing associations and housing professionals in 1987.
