Grand Day Out - Bringing the Community Together

Over the past three years the Grand Day Out in the Plungington area of Preston has bought the community together, celebrating how working together makes a difference.

This year was no different as agencies across the city, including Community Gateway Association ( CGA ) joined the party, braved the weather and gave help and advice to those attending.

The area is one of CGA's local community areas.   The Community Action Team ( CAT) which includes colleagues from all CGA service areas, held a tombola and guess the lions name competition which raised £194.

This money will go towards a painting and environmental project helping local community groups brighten up an area of the estate.

Reverend Stephen Johnson who heads the organising committee said " We are really pleased with the turnout again this year, it was great to see so many of the community young and old come together and be part of our Grand Day Out.

I would like to thank everyone who took part and helped us put the event together"

CAT team leader Vicki Robinson commented, “We are really proud to have been part of the Grand Day Out celebrations. It shows that residents do take pride in the area they live in. Our CAT team are providing support to get a community project off the ground and with the money raised, we can give them a great start"
