Ashdale Juniors - Community Park Dream Inspires Community

Ashdale Juniors, a group of young people from the Ingol area of Preston took their ” Big Idea" to the streets last week to get support for the creation of a new play area in the community.

The consultation event was the next phase, getting the views of local residents on the concepts they have developed.

Having previously presented their ideas to the CGA Board, they also gained support from CGA’s Community Empowerment team, the local PCSO’s, and Groundwork, a charity that specialises in environmental projects.

On a windswept and cold Friday afternoon, they set up stalls, on the site of the present play area, which has been plagued with Anti Social Behaviour issues.

The group welcomed everyone who attended and asked them for their opinions on the plans. The feedback will develop a full proposal that they can present to prospective funders.

Jinty Williams Community Development Officer commenting, “It is inspiring to see so many of the local community come out and support these young people. They have put together a fantastic plan that, with a bit of luck can be realised with the support of funding.”
