Council homes in the Tregynwr area of Carmarthenshire are set to receive external wall insulation thanks to Anglian Building Products.

Built after the Second World War, the non-traditional Trusteel homes will be insulated using Wetherby’s 60mm Phenolic board and finished with a dash render to minimise heat lost through their walls.

Their current steel frame construction makes the homes costly to heat, however following the installation of the external wall insulation the U-values on the home are set to improve from 2.13W/m2k to 0.3w/m2k which will dramatically reduce their energy bills.

Works will begin on site this month and form part of the £203million Carmarthenshire Homes Standard programme which will see every one of the council’s 9,200 dwellings brought up to Welsh Housing Quality Standards by 2015.

Anglian Technical Manager Martin Pickard comments “The recently installed windows and the EWI system will provide a significant benefit to the residents at Tregynwr, especially as many are elderly. During the winter the estate can experience prolonged periods of severe weather with temperatures often below freezing. These upgrade works will ensure comfort levels are raised significantly’’

This contract further cements Anglian’s relationship with Carmarthenshire C C, following their recent completion of a three-year contract to replace window and doors in homes across the county.
