Former Key 103 executive joins Tameside radio
Following the recent news that New Charter Housing Trust has secured the future of Tameside Radio, the boroughs community broadcaster have announced the appointment of a new Managing Director.
John Chapman will join Tameside Radio on October 4th and will be responsible for the development of the business going forward. Mr Chapman has a wealth of media experience having started his career at the Ashton under Lyne reporter where he worked in advertising sales in the 80’s. He then went on to have a successful management career within the commercial radio sector working for Key 103, the Transworld communications group and Galaxy 102 in Manchester.
Commenting on the appointment, New Charter Group CEO Ian Munro said:
“We are all delighted to have secured the services of such an experienced radio executive. John is a Tameside man and is passionate about the community, we were very impressed with his track record and his vision for the future of Tameside Radio”
John has lived in Tameside most of his life and has built a reputation for developing businesses and understanding how community radio stations can perform effectively in their communities, he comments: “ In some ways this is my dream job. I loved every minute of my time in radio and in local press. I can now use the skills I have gained over the last 30 years to make a difference at Tameside Radio and to give something back to the community that I am really proud to be part of”
John will be leading an executive and broadcasting team from Tameside radio’s studios in the heart of Ashton under Lyne.
The station celebrated its 4th Anniversary on 30th September 2011
