Brand new environmentally-friendly apartments for the elderly and disabled will be ready to let in Crook soon.
The new homes in Park Avenue Close will be ready for the first tenants to move in in the new year but anyone wanting to apply for one will have to register now.
Pat Wanless, director of neighbourhoods for Dale & Valley Homes, said: “We know there is a lot of interest in these new homes because people have been asking us about them since work started at the beginning of the year.
“Phase one of the development is due to be finished in December and we will be ready for new tenants in January.
“We don’t want anyone to miss the opportunity to apply for one of these apartments, which are for the over-60s and anyone who needs disabled access.
“They all have two bedrooms and have been built with accessible showers and lifts to make them easier for older people to manage.
“We will be advertising them towards then end of October through the Durham Key Options scheme, which advertises council and housing association properties acrossCountyDurham. To apply for an apartment you will have to be registered with Durham Key Options (DKO). If you are not already registered you can do that by contacting us.”
The apartments are subject to a local lettings policy, which gives preference to people with a local connection, but anyone registered with DKO will be able to apply.
To find out more, ask for advice on registering or for a registration form please contact Dale & Valley Homes on 0800 0830 333 or 0300 2000 194.
