Spire Homes have spent around £65,000 so far through their Environmental Improvement scheme initiative in Rutland. Salt bins, off-road parking and path widening are just some of the projects that have been completed or are in the pipeline.
Every resident was sent a form which they could fill in to have their say on what they thought the money could be spent on. Spire also held coffee mornings; door knocked during estate inspections, and had face to face consultations. These suggestions and the way of prioritising the work were then approved by the local Quality Assurance Group
Spire’s Housing Services team also identified where investment was required to address housing management and antisocial behaviour issues by improving security, lighting, fencing to communal areas as well as bin store areas, footpaths and parking.
A further £30,000 will be spent on communal garden areas within sheltered schemes to improve the aesthetics of these areas and also to reduce future grounds maintenance.
Neil Brunning, Repairs Surveyor said, 'The Environmental Improvements Scheme has so far generated lots of comments and suggestions from tenants and staff alike - This scheme is going to make a real difference to neighbourhoods making them a safer and more pleasant place to live'
