Ware Lions team with Riversmead staff
Riversmead Housing Association has teamed up with Ware Lions FC, one of the oldest established youth football clubs in Hertfordshire, to sponsor the football kit of their under 8’s team for the coming season.
£500 from Riversmead’s community investment fund was donated to the club, enabling them to purchase a new full kit.
Riversmead’s Director of Housing Services, Chris Wright and Senior Neighbourhood Officer, Wendy Duncan attended a pre-season training session to see the children practicing their football skills and preparing for their upcoming fixtures, wearing their new kits.
Chris Wright said: “We’re really pleased to have sponsored the kits of Ware Lions under 8’s football team, as they begin the 2011/12 league.
“Playing sports like football enable children to keep active, form friendships and learn new skills whilst having fun.
“It’s great to be involved and support the young people of Ware - we wish the team all the success for the season ahead.”
Each year, Riversmead supports a number of community projects and initiatives through their dedicated community investment fund. Ideas for projects come from residents’ suggestions and work with partners such as the local council and police. If you have a suggestion or idea please email Wendy Duncan at riversmead@riversmead.org.uk
