Staff from Two Rivers Housing took time out from their day job to make the most of the summer sun and host a series of around 10 free events throughout local communities in the Forest of Dean, Gloucester and Stroud.
The events included sports games, bouncy castles, horse and carts rides as well as free bbq’s and community tidy up activities, all with the aim of encouraging more local residents to have some fun and get involved in their neighbourhood.
Other local organisations also joined in including Gloucestershire Police and the Forest of Dean Street Wardens. Two Rivers also joined in the events arranged by other organisations including a Teddy Bears picnic and Seaside Fun events for under 5’s arranged by the River Children’s Centre in Lydney.
Mike Baggett, Neighbourhood Housing Advisor for Two Rivers said:
“We’re thrilled that so many of our tenants and people locally took time out to join in the fun at our community events this summer. These events have proved to be a great way for us to get to know our tenants in a relaxed and friendly environment. We estimate that we have welcomed over 200 families to our events.”
Emma Towler, Community Involvement Coordinator added:
“This year’s summer activity timetable has been packed full of events and we’ve been really impressed with the number of our tenants who have come out to spend time with us. We felt it was important to offer our tenants something fun and free to do with their families over the school holidays and we hope more people will join in next year.”
