Football event
The third annual free football event for the children of Stockport Homes’ tenants and leaseholders was held on 24 August. The event was a fantastic success with 96 football enthusiasts aged 8-14 taking part.
The day of activities (held at The Power League in Heaton Mersey) was organised by Stockport Homes in close partnership Stockport County Football Club and Stockport Sports Trust.
The sun shone on the football pitches as the children took part in training sessions with Stockport County coaches, a penalty shoot out competition and a football tournament. The children also enjoyed the bouncy castle, face-painting and the free goodie bags.
Two of Stockport County’s football stars Ryan McCann and Carl Piergianni dropped in to check out some of the talent on show. They also swapped sides and helped out with some refereeing.
The winners of the junior and senior penalty shoot out competition and football tournament received trophies to celebrate their wins. Pictures of the winners and those attending the football event will be available on our website www.stockporthomes.org
Nicola Green, Customer Involvement Officer said, “Everyone who attended really enjoyed their day of football fun. The day was a great success and all the children who attended are already looking forward to next year’s event.”
