Tao Geoghegan Hart, one of the stars of Hackney Homes’ Nightingale Estate Cycle Club is enroute to achieving his Olympic dream with a silver medal at the recent British Championships.
Starting his career on estates and parks in Hackney just two years ago, Tao, aged 16 has come a long way participating in both national and international races, most recently representing Great Britain at European Youth Championships in Turkey. His introduction to competitive cycling began with sessions at Cycle Club Hackney on Nightingale Estate and since then he has supported younger cyclists to achieve their goals.

He adds “It’s really great racing on an international scale and representing your local borough. I am very proud to be a part of Cycle club Hackney and I hope to inspire others and represent Great Britain in the Olympic Games one day.”
Neehara Wijeyesekera, Head of Tenancy and Leasehold Services, Hackney Homes said “We are very proud of Tao and the encouragement that he has had from Cycle Club Hackney. We continue to support the club to assist our young residents to take an interest in cycling and being healthy”.
