Grimsby’s Women’s Aid is the latest local charity to receive a major boost from Shoreline Housing Partnership as their employees fundraising efforts reach well over £33,500 in just six years.
Shoreline employees have raised thousands of pounds for a whole of host of local charitable organisations through their charity of the year activities including St Andrews Children’s Hospice, Crossroads - Caring for Carers, Friendship at Home, Bottoms Up, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and the funding of a specialist room at the Pink Rose Suite of Grimsby’s Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital.
Women’s Aid - chosen charity of the year 2010-11 - provide services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and received over £5300 from Shoreline employees.
Much needed money raised by Shoreline and their repairs and maintenance partners Mears will specifically go to the children’s fund.
Employees organised a series of fun events over the past year including fish and chip quiz suppers, dress down days, bake a cake sales and a successful Night at the Oscars.
Shoreline employee Ann Maggs, who has helped organise events throughout the year, said: "We’ve been able to support many worthwhile local charities that provide really important services to individuals across the area each and every day.
"We’re quite small in terms of the number of employees we have, so it is even more remarkable that we have managed to raise well over £33,500 in a relatively short amount of time.
"Fundraising clearly captures the imagination of our employees and they are always thinking up new ways of raising funds. It also shows how much support we have and we would like to thank all our employees, their family and friends, as well as our partnering agencies for providing such valuable and generous help.”
On top of Shoreline charity of the year activities, employees have taken part in national activities such as Comic Relief, Children In Need, MS Society Bake a Cake Days, Race for Life and the Three Peaks Challenge, local charity events such as Cleethorpes Carnival, It’s a Knockout, Hospice Sleepwalk and the Fillies Fun Run, raised funds for the local soup kitchen and collected toiletries, food and underwear for homeless charity Harbour Place.
Ann Maggs added: "As the North East Lincolnshire's largest social housing provider, we want to continue to help make a difference to local communities.”
