Four families will be moving into their new properties next week thanks to Stockport Homes who have just completed four new three bedroom houses on Bideford Road, Offerton in six months from start on site.
This is the fourth new build project to be completed by Stockport Homes since 2009 with funding from the Homes and Communities Agency.
Jane Clayton, Stockport Homes’ Customer Board Member officially opened the new properties with Councillor Mark Weldon and Mark Hudson, Director of Technical Services for Stockport Homes and said: “Converting a rundown, vandalised garage site into four new family homes in six months is a big achievement. I’m sure the four new families moving into these properties will make these houses happy homes, and the neighbours will also benefit from their new outlook and reduction in anti-social behaviour.”
Councillor Mark Weldon said of the new properties: “These new properties have been built to an excellent standard and designed to perform highly in terms of environmental sustainability meaning lower energy and water bills for customers, which in this climate is a huge bonus.”
The scheme has also achieved ‘Secure By Design’ standards which is the official UK police flagship initiative supporting the principles of designing out crime.
Representatives from Stockport Homes, Stockport Council, the Homes and Communities Agency, Wiggett Construction Ltd., Poole Dick Associate Quantity Surveyors and TADW Architects were also there to celebrate the opening.
