Published by Mike Holland for Larkfleet Homes in Housing
Specialist healthcare and retirement living developer Larkpoint (www.larkpoint.co.uk), a joint venture between Nottingham based Charterpoint Developments and Bourne based Larkfleet Group, has been granted outline planning permission by Rutland County Council for a 100 unit continuing care retirement community (CCRC) and 60 bed care home in Oakham, Rutland.
The retirement community and care home will be centrally located within the Hawksmead Park development, a large mixed use urban extension located approximately half a mile from Oakham’s town centre.
Part of the Hawksmead Park scheme has already been partly developed with housing and offices.
The retirement community and care home will provide a range of facilities such as communal lounges, a restaurant, fitness suite, cinema and library for residents.
It will also provide a range of living options – from independent and assisted living to nursing and dementia care for people with greater care needs.
The retirement community will help meet the high demand for housing of this kind within Oakham and Rutland.
Work on the CCRC and care home is due to start in early 2012.
A director of Larkpoint, commented: “We are delighted that outline planning permission has been granted for this much needed retirement community and care home. Due to Rutland’s above average aging population there is a particular need for this type of accommodation and care services in the local area. This retirement community and care home will provide a resident-centered first class environment to meet this need.”
