The innovative work by and for people who are homeless in Stockport has been recognised by a national award for H3 (Helping the Homeless into Housing) and Stockport Homes.

H3 and Stockport Homes won the ‘Best Practice in Supporting People’ category at the 2011 Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) awards.

They beat tough competition from across England and this award follows a win at the regional TPAS northern awards in Manchester in February.

TPAS recognised the innovative and inclusive work from Stockport Homes to develop and support the H3 Group.

H3 is a group made up of current and former residents from Stockport Homes’ three temporary accommodation schemes. H3 provide a vital support network for other residents helping those who find themselves homeless and in temporary accommodation to move on with confidence and independence.

Chrissie Ince, Chair of H3 said, “We are delighted that through winning the award, H3 have gained well deserved national recognition for their continued efforts and determination to make a difference. We are excited about our plans for further developing the work of the group in the future.”
