Tenants using the internet at the Homes on the Net session by Wolverhampton Homes
Tenants and leaseholders who have never used the internet took a giant leap onto the world wide web at a free training session last week thanks to Wolverhampton Homes.
The ‘Homes on the Net’ event was for tenants who were interested in learning more about the internet.
They were shown how to surf the information super highway as well as set up email addresses, pay their rent or report repairs on line and bid for homes.
Councillor Peter Bilson, Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration & Prosperity, said: “Wolverhampton City Council recognises the strong link between having digitally skilled residents and the economic success of our city.
“We welcome this event, which helps tenants and leaseholders develop new skills for the 21st Century.
“The internet opens an exciting range of opportunities to individuals who are able to use it, so the more people who have those skills the better.”
Lesley Roberts, Chief Executive of Wolverhampton Homes, said: “We know that people who are able to access the internet are much more able to get better value utilities, access training and jobs, stay connected to their families and make a difference in their communities.
“We want to do all we can to encourage as many of our tenants as possible to learn how to use the internet.”
Any tenants who would like to come along to future events should call 01902 556789 and ask to speak to the Tenant Involvement Team.
