Residents living at Boundary Close and Churchside sheltered housing scheme in New Longton have raised a staggering £400 for the North West Air Ambulance and £100 for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Chief Fundraiser and resident of Boundary Close, Bill Coulton, said: “The residents chose the North West Air Ambulance and Rosemere Cancer Foundation for the invaluable work they do for those in need across the North West.

“We raised the money by holding Bingo Suppers, a weekly bonus ball draw and prize raffles.”

North West Air Ambulance Regional Fundraising Officer Jo Fowler said: “Thank you to everyone involved,  it was a lovely surprise.”

“We help over 1,000 seriously injured people every year and rely on donations to raise the £4 million a year we need to keep our two helicopters operational. Boundary Close and Churchside support is important to us and is very much appreciated.”

Flying seven days a week, 365 days a year this vital life saving service covers 5,500 square miles and a population of around eight million people, yet receive almost no central government or lottery funding.  It costs nearly £4 million per year to maintain both aircrafts, the majority of which is generously donated by our supporters and members of the public.

Anyone in the area who would like to make a donation or help to organise a fundraising event can contact Jo Fowler on 0151 547 7830 or by email joanne.fowler@nwaa.net
