Forest of Dean based housing association, Two Rivers Housing offers its tenants a free handyperson service as part of its’ commitment to provide a series of Local Offers which go above and beyond day-to-day service, offering tenants something extra.
Emma Towler, Community Involvement Coordinator said: “We have been consulting with our tenants and local residents for many months now, looking at what service areas could be improved and those things we excel in. We have listened to our tenants and taken on board their opinions. This has resulted in the creation of a list of ‘Local Offers’ which we believe will help us tailor what we do to meet differing needs in local communities.”
Speaking about the free handyperson service, Littledean Tenant, Mr Bayes said:
“It’s great to have access to a free handyperson service, sometimes you just need an extra pair of hands for jobs at home. When I noticed my fence was rotten I brought a new fence panel but needed a little help to replace it. Karl the handyman has helped me fit it safely.”
Emma added:
“We’ve identified 10 Local Offers which we believe provide our tenants with something extra. These include introducing an easy-access process for tenants to receive home adaptations to help them maintain their independence, quicker repairs times and our handyperson service which has proved to be very popular. We have also recently launched a new tenant discount card with the support of our partner, Travis Perkins.”
Two Rivers is not alone in this endeavour, housing associations across the country have created a series of Local Offers in accordance with guidelines from housing sector governing body the Tenant Services Authority.
