Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) celebrated with tenants and everyone associated with the scheme when they opened their new development at Holdingham in Lincolnshire on 21st July.

The scheme comprises 97 affordable homes - good news for those on the local council housing waiting list to whom the rented homes have been allocated..  Prospective homeowners will also welcome the fact that there are 32 beautifully designed homes for shared ownership or Rent to Homebuy.

The scheme, which cost nearly £13million, has been funded by a grant from the Homes & Communities Agency of over £5million and local authority North Kesteven District Council have contributed £150,000.  The remainder of the funding comes from NCHA who will also manage the properties and look after the homes for sale.

Designed by NCHA's own Architects Department, Holdingham Mead forms the gateway to the bustling market town of Sleaford.

Also close by are the RAF bases of Waddington and Coningsby as well as the RAF's elite training college RAF Cranwell.  Its Station Commander Group Captain David Waddington (a hero of the Iraq war) cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony and commented how different, and very much smarter, the Holdingham homes were to the council estate on which he had grown up.

He said he hoped that the Holdingham tenants would embrace the wider community of which RAF Cranwell is part, and he felt sure there would be lots of interest in the new homes from RAF personnel seeking to buy an affordable home.
