On Friday 15 July, Moat staff will support helpers from Fawkham Church of England Primary School in the clear-up of woodland purchased by the school. The long term plan is to turn this land into a nature and outdoor learning environment for pupils.
Historically, the area has been used as a dumping ground for rubbish, and Moat volunteered to help clear it and get the land ready for use.
Dorinda Perry, Headteacher at Fawkham Church of England Primary School, says; “We are very grateful to Moat for organising this day. Fawkham School children have been unable to use this area of the new woodland, because of the rubbish that has been left there. At last the children will have access to the Woodland and will benefit from outdoor learning.”
Moat’s Community Development Officer, Peggy Nicholson, says; “We want residents to take pride in their neighbourhoods and to get involved with local community projects like these. Once complete, the woodland will become a valuable learning tool for local school children, now and in years to come. We hope to lead by example in volunteering to help the school clear this patch of land, and invite any local residents to come and help out too!”
