On Monday 11 July, Moat has organised an information and advice day at Birkdale on Upper Grosvenor Road, for their residents in Tunbridge Wells. Moat has 431 residents living across the area with no central development or meeting point for them to get involved. The Community Development team decided that it was a great opportunity for to find out more about them and what services they want and need.

Working with several service providers in Tunbridge Wells, Moat has ensured that residents will have access to information and advice about the local mental health resource centre, adult education, volunteering opportunities and the police. Moat’s mobile office, ‘Moat on the move’ will provide a venue for one-to-one support and attendees will be able to pass on their ideas for future Moat community activities.

Moat’s Community Development Officer, Peggy Nicholson, says; “We want to know more about the people who live in our communities. The services we and other local service providers offer, have to be based on insight and regular conversation with our residents. It’s vital that we provide what residents want and need, not what we’ve decided they want and need. In Tunbridge Wells, particularly, our residents are scattered quite widely across the area so today will provide an excellent opportunity to find out more about how we can continue to provide and improve excellent local services.”
