Customer satisfaction wins local man prize

A Coundon man won first prize in a draw to encourage people to tell a local company what they thought of its services.

Dale & Valley Homes asked 2,000 customers to fill in a questionnaire asking what they thought of their homes, repairs and how well they were kept informed.

Jimmy Young, from Grey Gardens in Coundon, was the winner of the prize draw and he received vouchers from neighbourhood services team leader Liz Bradley.

Mr Young, who has lived in the street for more than 20 years, said: “. I am always happy with the services. I don’t get people out very much but if I do they come when they say and they are polite, which is good.”

The survey results show a steady improvement in customer satisfaction over the five years since Dale & Valley Homes was formed, with the specific purpose of improving services to council tenants in Wear Valley.

Mrs Bradley said: “Every area we monitor has shown improvement. For example in 2006 only 71 per cent of customers thought their rent was value for money, but that has increased to 86 per cent.

“Similarly overall satisfaction with the service had risen from 76 to 88 per cent and satisfaction with the way we keep people informed is now at 91 per cent from 80 per cent in 2006.

“We are very grateful to all the 800 customers who returned the survey and happy that they have recognised the improvements we have made over the years.”

Two other customers also received prizes in the draw.
