More than 100 tenants in Wolverhampton have benefitted from Wolverhampton Homes Tidy Garden Scheme since it was established last year
And to celebrate the scheme’s 1st anniversary we’re holding a Tidy Garden Week.
The scheme, which was borne out of a request by tenants, has seen 128 tenants’ gardens tidied up with a further 50 people having expressed an interest in the service.
With fully trained and qualified gardeners provided by Continental Landscapes, a variety of work is carried out to create gardens that tenants are proud of and that improve estates for everyone.
During 13 – 17 June, Wolverhampton Homes staff will be out and about promoting the service to tenants whose gardens need a little work and thanking those tenants who take good care of their gardens.
Director of Housing at Wolverhampton Homes, Mark Henderson said: “We are delighted that so many tenants have signed up to the Tidy Garden Scheme.
“Tenants told us that this was something that was important to them so we were keen to make sure we delivered.
“It’s really rewarding to see the gardens that have been improved and the difference it has made to our tenants.”
The service offers lawn mowing every two weeks during spring and summer and twice a year, the gardeners cut hedges. In autumn and winter, the gardeners visit every month to prune shrubs, edge lawns, weed and generally tidy up.
Tenant, Susan Smith said: “The scheme is brilliant. Due to poor health I wasn’t able to maintain my garden so it was very overgrown, the gardeners came and tidied everything and left no mess behind.
“They’re very friendly and make you feel comfortable in their presence. I think the scheme is good value for money.”
The service costs £7 per week and is available to tenants with gardens. Preference is given to tenants who are elderly or disabled.
Wolverhampton Homes tenants can call 01902 556789 for more information on the scheme.
