On 19 May 2011 H3 held a fundraising American Pool Competition at Rileys Snooker and Pool, Stockport. The competition was a great success; raising over £200 for homeless people in Stockport.
In total, 25 local Stockport residents and Stockport Homes’ staff attended the event. Attendees played for three hours in the knock-out tournament.
Chrissie Ince, Chair of H3 said, “Thanks to everyone who attended the event and the sponsors who provided the prizes and trophies. The money raised from the pool competition will go towards helping homeless people in Stockport get back on their feet.”
The event prizes and trophies were sponsored by Stockport Homes’ Plus Fund, and donations were also gratefully received from the following local businesses:
• APL Locksmiths
• Britannia Laundry (Martin/Tommy/Mark)
• Quality Flooring (Asif)
• Stockport Bedding
• Taylor Mortgage and Financial Services
• The Trophy Store
• Whitefern
Special thanks goes out from H3 to Rileys Snooker and Pool Hall for providing the venue and tables for free, plus kindly donating two pool cues.

Notes for Editor:
H3 (Helping the Homeless into Housing)
H3 is a constituted group of current and former residents of Stockport Homes’ Temporary Accommodation Schemes who meet every two months to discuss issues and improvements relating to the three schemes.
The group scrutinises policies and procedures, identifies gaps in provision and also submits bids for funding to improve services at the schemes. It also looks at areas such as training and fundraising to provide an enhanced service to people have been homeless; for example, this year the group has been tasked with operating the annual Christmas card competition which has in the past two years raised over £600 for services relating to homeless people.
The H3 has an elected committee of current and former residents, and is supported by a number of Stockport Homes’ staff. Together with those attending the meetings they seek to support and empower vulnerable homeless people to seek housing, employment, new skills and social opportunities.
