Moat has joined the PlaceShapers Group, a national group of 55 community based housing associations formed in 2008. The group owns close to 300,000 homes between its members, providing services to nearly one million people.

PlaceShapers came together as a group because all those involved saw the importance of working closely with partners at a local level, to achieve real improvements. Good housing is fundamental to a decent standard of living and Moat, as a new member of the PlaceShapers Group, is conscious of their pivotal role as an agent of change.

Moat places great emphasis on building strong, long-term relationships with local authorities. Developing a proactive network of local partnerships is the only way to guarantee a joined-up and effective service to residents. This ethos fits perfectly with that of the PlaceShapers Group, who believe that it is crucial to remain truly accountable at a local and regional level.

Moat’s Chief Executive, Brian Johnson, says; “We have made it a strategic priority across the business to develop and enhance our service offer to residents by working more closely and effectively with our local partners. These include residents, local authorities, business groups, welfare support agencies and charitable groups. Our Executive Team has been working really hard to ensure we maintain effective links at a strategic level with all of our local authority partners.”

Tony Stacey, Chair of the PlaceShapers Group, says; “Moat is one of the larger housing associations in the PlaceShapers group, but there are no size limits. All organisations who share our ethos of working closely with local authorities to improve customer services and places for local people are welcome to join. We are pleased that Moat has added its voice to the group.”
