Just the Job

Some employers hold recruitment fairs, and others prefer an ad in the paper. However, nothing beats real work experience leading to a permanent job.
This is what has happened to Zeynab Alamdani. She started work with Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) as an Outreach Worker through the Future Jobs Fund programme, which gave her an introduction to working in a supported housing and social care environment. By gaining valuable first hand experience, Zeynab applied for a vacancy for a Support Worker at the same workplace, and was successful in obtaining the post.
This means a win-win result for everyone. Zeynab gains a job in a place where she knows the staff, the service users and the organisation. NCHA gains a tried and tested member of staff who has already proved that she has the skills to take on this work.
We hope that this is the start of a trend. NCHA will be encouraging other staff who have worked successfully on their Future Jobs Fund programmes, to apply for permanent posts as they become available.
