Young Lewisham Homes Residents Look to the Future Following Job Skills Training

Seven young Lewisham Homes residents now have the confidence and skills necessary to enter employment or further training after completing the High-5 Employability Skills Programme.

The programme, run by training and personal development company Elevating Success, was delivered on behalf of Lewisham Homes to help offer training and development opportunities to its 16 to 25 year old residents. 

Since completing the programme, 25 year old Lewisham Homes resident Renee Robinson is due to undertake work experience  at Elevating Success and Lewisham Homes within administration. She says “The programme has helped me to identify my skills and has given me the confidence to go out and look for work and know that I am doing it in the correct way. I’m really looking forward to starting my new role, it will give me the experience I need for a future career in Housing Administration.”

The High-5 programme provides mentoring support, training and personal planning designed to help young people get into employment, education or training. The focus is on confidence building, personal presentation, creativity, mentoring and life skills. Activities cover writing a curriculum vitae, mock interviews and presentation skills.

Amanda Brown, Trainer on the programme says “I was really impressed with the calibre of participants from Lewisham Homes, they were enthusiastic and wanted to learn. I wish them every success in the future and I have no doubt they will achieve their goals.”

The High-5 Employability Skills course ran three times a week for a duration of six weeks in Sydenham Library.  Lewisham Homes are committed to helping equip young residents fulfil their full potential and plan to continue working with Elevating Success to deliver more High 5 programmes in the future.
