CGA Colleagues Supporting IDAHO 2011
Colleagues from Community Gateway Association (CGA) joined organisations across the UK who flew the flag in support of International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia ( IDHAO)
IDAHO is a time to celebrate, show recognition of and support the contribution of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGB&T) individuals and communities.
Since achieving Navajo accreditation in 2010, CGA has worked hard to identify support needs of the community, who often feel isolated when trying to access services or be part of the wider community.
Janet Faqiri a member of CGA's Frontline Diversity Group said, "Over the past 12 months we have forged close relationships with LGB&T partners in Preston who are already supporting members of the community who require extra support.
Since achieving 100% customer profiling we are aware that we still have some work to do to make sure we are providing opportunities for LGB&T customers and residents to get more involved with CGA."
Darren Knight, Development Manager at the Lesbian & Gay Foundation (LGF) commenting on the LGF website : "Creativity is at the core of what we encourage individuals and organisations to consider when marking IDAHO.
Whether it's a rainbow flag flying from a Town Hall, a library publicly displaying positive information resources for the local community, or schools and colleges participating by having anti-homophobic bullying assemblies and lessons - it doesn't matter what you do, as long as you are doing something positive and visible; the LGF and other LGB&T voluntary and community sector groups are here to support organisations."
