Royal quiz winners at Bircherley Court
Residents of Bircherley Court in Hertford celebrated the Royal wedding in style, enjoying an afternoon tea party to mark the occasion at the older persons’ housing scheme.
The highlight of the event, organised by Riversmead Housing Association and contractor Hill Partnerships, was a Royal quiz, with questions concentrating on the details of the big day.
Wendy Penn and Diana Shambrook, two of the four quiz winners, said of the party: “Riversmead and Hill Partnerships organised a really good day – the food was excellent! It was lovely to meet with our neighbours to celebrate this royal occasion.”
Bircherley Court is currently being redeveloped into a contemporary flexicare housing scheme. Flexicare is a housing option that can create a new, positive lifestyle for older people. Residents can continue to live independently whilst receiving care and support that suits their needs, whether this means regular care or occasional assistance. For many, flexicare creates a home for life.
Jackie Trundell, Riversmead’s Neighbourhood Services Manager, commented: “Enjoying events like this with our residents at Bircherley Court, is a way of saying thank you to them for their patience and cooperation whilst building work is taking place.
The redevelopment will not only benefit residents living at the scheme who can receive care and support from on-site carers that suit their individual circumstances, but also the wider community who can use the communal facilities and participate in social activities.”
Bircherley Court will be opening in autumn 2011. For more information visit www.riversmead.org.uk or contact Customer Services on 01992 514 514. Alternatively, call Hertfordshire County Council Health and Community Services on 0300 123 4042 or visit www.hertsdirect.org.
