Gardens around Wear Valley will be looking smarter thanks to a new scheme to tidy up the area.

Housing company Dale & Valley Homes is introducing the scheme to help people keep on top of their gardens throughout the year.

Council tenants throughout the areas will be eligible for the new garden maintenance service, although they will be charged.

Pat Wanless, director of housing operations for Dale & Valley Homes, said: “We know some people have difficulty maintaining their gardens for a variety of reasons and we have been looking at helping out. Rather than creating complicated rules over who can have help and who can not we decided to open up the service to all customers.

“There is a charge for this service, which ranges from £3 to £6.50 per week, depending on the size of the garden, but we feel the service is value for money and will help a lot of people, particularly the elderly and those with disabilities.”

Customers can apply for the service either by completing an online form at www.daleandvalleyhomes.co.uk or by calling the housing services team on 0800 0830 333.
