Merlin Housing Society is giving its residents the chance to learn new skills to make sure it is delivering the right service for its residents.

The South Gloucestershire housing society is recruiting a new group of residents to scrutinise its work. The new Residents Forum Scrutiny Group will play a vital role in ensuring the society provides services that are right for all its residents.

Volunteers who join the group will be sent on a two day training course to improve their leadership skills and learn how to effectively challenge Merlin’s officers. At the end of the course they will receive a nationally recognised qualification from the Institute of Leadership and Management.

Neighbourhood Involvement Manager Jennifer Griffiths said: “This group of residents will play an important role in scrutinising our performance. So we want to make sure they have all the right skills to allow them to do this with confidence. The training we are offering will not only do that but could also help them in the job market, as its something they can put on their CV.”

Residents are being given the chance to get involved in a flyer being sent out with their latest rent statements, which will be arriving through the post later this week. Anyone interested in taking part should contact the Admin Team on 01454 821100.
