Moat, the South East based housing association, proudly announced the commencement of a new ten year responsive repairs contract with Mears on 1 April 2011.

The contract promises to deliver Moat’s residents an innovative service, including evening and weekend repairs visits. Mears has also pledged that its operatives will complete 95 per cent of repairs in one visit and that the company will pay for any appointments missed by its operatives.

In a further effort to deliver a great level of service, Mears will also be initiating a ‘handyman’ programme for some of Moat’s sheltered and supported properties. Mears operatives will complete one visit per month to selected sheltered and supported homes and they will carry out small repairs, which would ordinarily be the responsibility of the residents. This service will help residents with repairs that they may have trouble completing themselves; it will also be free of charge to those in the selected schemes.

Paul Ingram, Moat’s Director of Property Services says; “This is an exciting time for Moat, Mears and most of all, for Moat’s residents. The level of service that Mears delivers is among the highest in the industry; we are very happy about the commencement of this contract and hope that it proves to be a long, successful partnership.”

To support resident independence, Mears will also be holding repairs workshops to teach Moat residents how to safely and effectively carry out basic repairs themselves.
