Staff from Merlin's Kingswood Housing Office celebrate the opening of the new office in High Street, Kingswood
A brand new housing office for Kingswood residents has been officially opened by Merlin Housing Society’s resident chairman Les Good.
The office, right in the heart of Kingswood, opened its doors for business on Monday, 4 April. It replaces the former housing office in Cadbury Heath that closed last week.
The move to Kingswood is supported by the majority of residents served by the office. Two years ago Merlin wrote to all residents asking whether they’d prefer the office to remain in Cadbury Heath or move to Kingswood. More than 800 residents responded and 96% were in favour of the move.
Now the staff have settled into their new home and the doors are open for residents to pop in.
Kingswood Service Delivery Manager Lesley Mower-Hill said: “We’re delighted to have returned to Kingswood, a move which was supported by most of our residents. Having the office in High Street means that it is easier to reach for the majority of residents and it’s next door to the council’s one-stop shop.
“It’s important that we not only provide excellent services to our residents, but that they’re also able to access them easily. Our new office places us right at the heart of the community in Kingswood and we look forward to welcoming residents through the doors.”
The office is open every weekday from 8.30am – 5pm, except for Wednesdays when it is open 8.30am – 3pm. Residents can reach the new office using the numbers 6, 43, 86, 319, or 635 bus services. There are also a limited number of parking spaces in front of the office for residents who want to drive there.
Merlin is now in discussions with a community group to see if they can use the former Cadbury Heath housing office.
