Merlin Housing Society has teamed up with South Gloucestershire Council to offer free Housing and Council Tax benefits advice sessions at its Patchway Housing Office.

From the start of April, the council will begin holding weekly sessions at the office for local residents. The officer will be able to advise whether people are eligible for Housing or Council Tax Benefit and can help complete their application. Customers will also be able to report any change in their circumstances that may affect their Housing or Council Tax Benefit claim.

The sessions are open to everyone, not just Merlin residents.

Merlin Debt Advisor Lisa Jowrey said: “These sessions are a great chance for people to get face-to-face advice about their Housing or Council Tax benefits.

“We know times are tough so it’s important that people claim the benefits they are entitled to, rather than struggling to make ends meet without any assistance. We’re delighted to be working with South Gloucestershire Council to provide this new service for Patchway residents.”

Jude Bevan, Benefit Service Manager for South Gloucestershire Council said: “This is a great example of partnership working between Merlin and South Gloucestershire Council which benefits all residents by providing them with easy access to an excellent service where enquiries can be fully resolved immediately.”

The Community Benefit Officer will be at the Patchway Housing Office in The Parade, Patchway, BS34 5LP every Monday from 4 April, between 9.30am – 4pm. To make an appointment call the office on 01454 821500.
