Practitioners from across the public, private and third sectors all now work in the area of community safety. These multi agency practitioners come from a broad range of backgrounds and organisations. Now is the time to recognise this growing band of professionals with formally accredited UK qualifications.

CSP Academy, part of the Safety Net Associates Group, have launched a new BTEC qualification which addresses the needs for formal training, development with an educational accredited qualification in this wide reaching area of work.


This new and unique BTEC qualification has been developed by the CSP Academy and Edexcel. This course uses a variety of teaching tools, including scenario based learning, to enhance training using realistic situations

The qualification fits into the programme of qualifications and training offered within the CSP Academy, while complimenting our themed academies such as the Community Restorative Justice Academy, The National Stalking Training Academy and The National Neighbourhood Watch Academy.

This qualification has been designed to support and better enable the practical application of:


- Relevant current and emerging legislation

- Recognised best practice

- The application of National Occupation Standards

- Restorative Justice Approaches

- Changes in the overall field of Community Safety Including the introduction of Police Crime Commissioners, panels, links to localism and the big society.

This qualification is for candidates who either aspire to be, or are already working in, the field of Community Safety. Examples of organisations or practitioners who this qualification could apply to include:

Course Content

Community Safety Practice defined

- To show an understanding of the practice of community safety and restorative approaches in a variety of formal and informal settings


 

Application of Community Safety Practice in the wider and local context

 - To show an understanding of the breadth of use of community safety and restorative approaches not just in their own situation but across a range of local and wider contexts and situations


 

Who to involve in Community Safety approaches

 - To show an understanding of who should participate in community safety approaches, including new initiatives such as advocate panels, police and crime commissioners, localism and the big society


 

Preparation & Risk Assessment

 - To show an understanding of the management of risk through community safety processes


 

Community Safety Strategies

- To show an understanding of statutory responsibilities and subsequent guidance, neighbourhood strategies, and partnership responsibilities


 

Community Safety systems and processes

- To show an understanding of the Crime and Disorder Act, subsequent legislation, section 17, information and data sharing, problem orientated approaches including SARA & PAT and partnership cost saving models


 

Community Safety Communication

 - To show an understanding of marketing and communication strategies, identifying communities of interest and fear of crime strategies

 

Community Safety Project Management

 - To show an understanding of the principles of project management, links to performance management, research and evaluation terminology and risk assessments

Cost

The normal cost to enrol a student to this qualification is £695 + VAT. This will include:

- 2 x mandatory taught tutorial dates

- All required course materials

- Lifetime membership to our online Student Zone (which includes any relevant updates to legislation, National Occupational Standards and best practice, enabling the student to maintain their learning and continuing professional development).
