Riversmead Housing Association and East Herts Citizens Advice Service have signed a new, three year contract that sees the Citizens Advice Service continue to provide important benefit and debt advice to Riversmead’s residents.

Linda Brown, Riversmead’s Housing Manager met with Jeff Farrington, Chairman and Gail Cambery, District Manager, East Herts Citizens Advice Service at the charity’s offices to sign the new contract.

Riversmead are continuing to support the work of the East Herts Citizens Advice Service by funding the service which is available to Riversmead residents. The role of this service has changed since funding began in 2007 and now offers an outreach service giving generalist advice as well as specialist welfare benefits and debt advice.

The outreach service, specifically for Riversmead residents, allows them access to confidential and independent advice on a Wednesday morning at Riversmead House; as well as providing debt and benefit advice in Stanstead Abbotts and Ware on a Monday and Wednesday, respectively. Fast track appointments for debt advice can also be booked at the Citizens Advice Service’s office at Yeoman’s Court, Hertford.

Commenting on the signing of the contract, Chris Wright, Riversmead’s Director of Housing Services, said: “The East Herts Citizens Advice Service is a vital resource for local people, providing important guidance to those in need. It is rewarding to be able to offer an easily accessible, support service to our residents in conjunction with them. Our partnership with East Herts Citizens Advice Service is one of great value and I look forward to continuing to work with them over the next three years.”

Jeff Farrington, Chairman of East Herts Citizens Advice Service, commented “We are delighted to be able to continue our excellent partnership with Riversmead Housing Association and the three year contract is a very welcome addition.”
