Fishing for success

Continuing their work supporting localised anti-social behaviour prevention projects, Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) has made a donation to the CAST educational angling project supporting young people in rural Nottinghamshire.

CAST combines educational programmes and rural restoration projects with teaching angling skills.  The aim is to help young people aged 13 -19 achieve qualifications, practical skills and offer an alternative to anti-social activities.

NCHA's Senior Anti-social Behaviour Officer, Geoff Pittham, is a keen advocate for the project: and will be nominating children from NCHA homes in the Notts area for the project::

"Fishing is a hobby close to my heart, and it's great to see it can be used to combat anti-social behaviour in some of the areas where NCHA work. We've been delighted to be able to make a donation and ensure that the CAST team can carry on teaching their students for another year."

The project is eager to put NCHA's donation to good use, and is set to purchase much needed fly fishing equipment to assist them expand this year's curriculum.

The cheque was presented by Geoff Pittham to CAST Project Officer, David Goodall at a  CAST club meeting on Wednesday 16th March.
