Three cousins were among 14 warehouse staff and drivers at Total Glass to gain their NVQ Level 2 qualifications through the company’s comprehensive in-house training scheme.

Total Group Managing Director, Frank Deary presented certificates to the successful warehouse employees, including cousins Tony and Justin O’Brien, along with colleagues Ian Corlett, Michael Morley and Mark King. Night worker Carl O’Brien is not pictured.

Frank said: “As one of the UK’s largest PVC-U and aluminium fabricators, we take our commitment to staff training very seriously. We encourage all our employees to take part in skills training programmes that lead to industry-recognised qualifications. Our dedicated team is a credit to the company and their hard work has helped to make Total Glass the company it is today”

Over the past two decades, hundreds of employees have achieved work-related qualifications and gained new skills through the Total Training School’s 13 and 26-week courses. In 2010, 22 workers, from operatives to office staff, successfully gained NVQs at Levels 2 and 3.

In March, a rolling bespoke training programme will be introduced for all production staff. Total Glass Quality Manager Mike Hurst, who manages the training programmes, said: “This represents a major step forward for us, enabling employees to maximise their multi-skilling abilities and helping them to achieve their personal potential.”
