Two youngsters from a Gateshead school have scored tickets to see their football heroes.
Charlotte McKinnell (6) and Jay Sterling (9) from Kibblesworth Primary School have won tickets to watch Newcastle United’s game with Bolton Wanderers at St. James’ Park this weekend (Saturday, February 26).
All children with 100 per cent attendance for the academic year were entered into a prize draw for the tickets.
The prize was donated by Frank Haslam Milan (FHM) North East, the community regeneration specialist carrying out a major development project in the area. The tickets were provided to FHM by the football club’s charitable arm, the Newcastle United Foundation.
FHM is currently constructing 150 new homes in Kibblesworth, for The Gateshead Housing Company (TGHC).
The development will replace a rundown ‘Airey’ housing estate, which was built in the 1950s. The project, which started in 2010, will cost £14 million and is being carried out over three years.
The school has already formed close links with FHM, and recently joined staff and contractors to give a lick of paint to the village’s old miners wheel which has not been maintained since it was transported from Shildon Colliery in the late-1980’s.
Heather Miller, Lead Resident Liaison Officer for FHM, said: “We have worked closely with the school since we began working in Kibblesworth.
“This is a reward for youngsters who have given their time to support the local community during this regeneration project.”
