Angie Buzzacott - 2010 winner
A competition to find and reward Haringey’s most deserving residents who volunteer in the local community is underway by Homes for Haringey.
The housing management organisation will select nine final winners from individual and group nominations by the closing date of January 24 2011. Any tenant or leaseholder who has gone beyond the call of duty to help others is eligible to be put forward for an award by neighbours, family, friends or Homes for Haringey staff.
Now in its third year, the competition is also open to Haringey based voluntary groups working with Council tenants.
Organised by the Resident Involvement team, winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony on March 10 at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre in Tottenham. Up to 12 registered Residents Associations will also receive World on your Doorstep community grants.
The Resident Reward nominees can be individuals or a group who:
• changed the dynamics of their community by running a creative youth, general needs or supported housing based project
• cleaned, improved or monitored their estate
• got others involved
• ran a positive campaign on behalf of their community
Jackie Thomas, Director of Housing Management, said: “Last year’s reward recipients included those working with young people or supporting older people, and individuals with an active involvement in residents’ associations. There are no specific award categories so we are hoping to receive as many nominations as possible by the closing date.”

Background
The Resident involvement team offer World on Your Doorstep Project Grants to Residents' Associations that specifically aim to include under-represented communities in their defined area.
Each year the team provides recognised residents’ associations with information about the make-up of their area to identify if there are any groups in their community who could be actively encouraged to get more involved with the association.
All nomination forms must be returned by midnight on Sunday, January 24 2011 to the Resident Involvement team by post or email:
