A special event was held at CGA's Windsor Court Scheme recently as resident Fred Entwistle turned 100 years old.
Over 30 residents and CGA colleagues joined in the celebrations as they threw a huge party with Hot Pot and Apple Pie on the menu.
Fred was born in Newton-Le-Willows on 5 December 1910 but moved to Preston after applying for a job with the English Electric Company as a Draughtsman. He has been living at Windsor Court for 25 years and says he loves every minute of it.
Fred is called “Mr Raffle” within the scheme as he organises all the raffles, with the money going to support his favourite charity St Catherine’s Hospice.
Lynne Dyson Scheme Manager at Windsor Court said, “ Fred is one of those people you meet in life who make you smile when you meet them, he is one of the main characters here at the scheme and is heart and soul of the community group based here.”
Diane Bellinger Chief Executive of CGA presented Fred with a hamper of goodies on behalf of the organisation in honour of this fantastic achievement.
Fred commenting on his birthday said, “ I would like to thank everyone at Windsor Court and CGA for making my 100th Birthday celebrations so special, it was great to see so many people enjoying themselves and I really enjoyed myself too.”
A special cake was also made with a replica of one of Fred’s favourite locomotives as part of the decoration.
