Weber Leca Insulation Fill Weber Leca Insulation Fill

Weber Leca® Insulation Fill is the fastest and most economical way to prepare foundations for new build extensions, such as garages, conservatories, driveways and patios, and retrofit projects.  Easy, quick and safe to use, this environmentally friendly insulation material achieves excellent U-values of 0.22W/m2K, at a depth of 300mm, and complies with current Part L Building Regulations.

The lightweight Weber Leca® Insulation Fill is laid in bags which weigh just 15kg per 50L bag, well within the H&SE recommendations for a single man lift, making them safe to transport by hand, are clean and convenient for operatives and householders, and reduce the on-site time to prepare foundations by an impressive number of hours.

Weber Leca® Insulation Fill is made from natural glacial clays which are fired at temperatures of 1150°C to form ceramic granules that have a hard outer shell and porous core.  For deeper foundations Weber Leca® Insulation Fill can be pneumatically blown directly into the void from a specially adapted vehicle, up to 50m away, and is certified for depths of up to 3m.

In application, the first layer of Weber Leca® Insulation Fill is laid in the bag, side by side, and firmed.  Loose material is brushed into gaps and around edges.  The process is repeated with a second layer of insulation bags and more loose material brushed into position.  A 1200 gauge damp proof membrane is laid directly onto the Weber Leca® Insulation Fill and the floor is now ready to receive a screed incorporating reinforcing steel mesh.  Levels must be set before applying weber.floor 4310 fibre flow, a fibre modified levelling compound for use on bonded, un-bonded and floating floors which is supplied pre-blended and is ready for foot traffic just 2 – 4 hours after application.

Based on a 12m² conservatory using innovative Weber Leca® Insulation Fill, the whole application will take, on average, 2 – 3 hours for two men at an approximate cost of £470.00 (excludes cost of screed material).  This compares favourably with the traditional solution of using typical hardcore, blinding sand, DPM, polystyrene insulation and screed which will take an average of two men, one day each, with an associated cost of £750.00 (excluding screed material).

“This really is the future for floors,” says James Mead, Product Manager, Weber.  “Weber Leca® Insulation Fill eliminates the cost of equipment and materials; reduces the environmental impact of heavy vehicles to site and is more convenient for domestic access situations, and massively reduces labour costs.  In refurbishment situations, disruption to residents is minimal and it is so easy to use. Builders who have not tried it do not know what they are missing.”
