Thornbury and Patchway residents are being encouraged to suggest projects to improve their local communities.
On Saturday members of the Severn View Community Action Group are touring the region to find local projects to support. Every year the group receives a £10,000 budget from Merlin Housing Society to fund projects, activities and groups working in the area. Now it wants to find out the sorts of projects that people in the area would like the money spent on.
Merlin’s Community Investment Manager Verona Vidal said: “The group really want to go out into the local community to find out what projects need funding. They can help fund things like playgroups, holiday football sessions, anything that will benefit the community.
“If you’ve got a local project and you need funding, come along and have a chat with the group to see whether they’d be able to help.”
The timetable for Saturday’s tour is as follows:
10.30am – 11am – St Mary’s Shopping Centre car park, Thornbury
11.30am – 12noon – Jubilee Village Hall car park, Gloucester Road, Alveston
1.30pm – 2pm – Mason Arms car park, Rudgeway
2.30pm – 3pm – Patchway High School, Almondsbury
3.30pm – 4pm – The Parade car park, Coniston Road, Patchway
Anyone not able to chat with members of the group on Saturday but would like to suggest a project for them to support, can contact the group chair, René Thorne on 07584 026541.
