A unique approach to customer services has seen housing management organisation, Homes for Haringey, shortlisted from more than 250 entries to the 2010 UK Housing Awards.

The awards now in their 14th year recognise outstanding work in housing which improves the lives of people in their communities.

The organisation is one of six finalists left in the running in the Championing Customer Service and Choice category for its work around exploring customers’ experiences, interacting with them and involving them with the organisation.

The event is organised by Inside Housing magazine and the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), and attracted a phenomenal response with submissions from the length and breadth of the UK.

The winners will be revealed at an awards ceremony at London’s Hilton Hotel on 10 November hosted by BBC Radio Scotland’s Fred MacAulay. The awards are sponsored by Hays, PH Jones, United House, EMA, Sanctuary Group, Capita Resourcing, Devonshires Solicitors and supported by The Scottish Government, Welsh Assembly and Northern Ireland’s Department for Social Development. Last year nearly 800 people attended.

CIH Chief Executive, Sarah Webb, said: “It is fantastic that we have had so many excellent entries this year, and this is evident from the high standard of the shortlisted finalists.  I want to congratulate all the organisations who have reached the finals, their work is a true inspiration to all of us.”

Homes for Haringey’s Chief Executive, Paul Bridge, added:“We are extremely pleased that our work with our customers has enabled us to get shortlisted for this award.  Local customers are our priority and always remain at the heart of everything we do at Homes for Haringey. Staff from every department across the business have got involved in mapping our customer journeys and improving their experiences wherever possible.”

Notes to Editors

In January Homes for Haringey were awarded the Government’s Customer Service Excellence Standard.  The Standard, which replaces the former Chartermark, reflects Homes for Haringey’s demonstatable commitment to customer involvement, communicating with residents customer insight and customer journey mapping.
